Pukaskwa River – Day 10

Last day of the trip :(. Last days are always bitter sweet, because I’m sad to be finishing a trip, but at the same time, knowing how close the end is makes me ready to be done.

Contrary to the forecast we woke up to a glass calm lake – a rare sight on this trip! We took our time breaking camp. I read for awhile, Conor did some fishing and took some photos of the arctic plants found on the Lake Superior coast, etc.

Taking down the tent for the last time (on this trip, that is!)

We were on the water by 10am. Stopped to visit some friends who have a camp on the lake for a couple of hours, than continued to the Michipicoten River mouth, where we stopped to see who was around Rock Island Lodge, where we have both worked in the past and Conor still does some work. It was pretty quiet, so we hopped back in the kayak and paddled up the river to Mission Falls. From the falls we portaged up a short trail and then a short section along a road to reach the truck, which was parked in Chris’ driveway. Loaded up, and off we went, already talking about the next trip!
