Welcome! My name is Kim and I live in northern Ontario with my husband, Conor, and husky mix, Jack.

I work in the environmental/natural resources field, which basically means I jump from contract to contract, but I guess that is the way of the world these days!

As per the title I like to run…and paddle… but I also like to do lots of other things. However, all of the other names I could think of were taken, so The Running Paddler it is.

Staying active and adventuring outside are very important to me. We like to spend as much time as we can outside and camping. Long paddling trips in the backcountry are the best. We used to sea kayak a lot together, but that changed a bit when Jack entered the family in December 2010. Conor still kayaks a lot, but as a family we’re doing a lot more canoe tripping so the hound can come along too (he LOVES it).

I am also very interested in health and fitness, and am always looking to learn more in these areas.

Many of the photos are taken by Conor. Taking more of my own photos is something I really need to work on.

Enjoy 🙂

  1. Kim I read your blog on the batchawana river trip. I am looking to make a trip down it in June. Could you provide any info on where to get camping permits. I plan to go from the train to Lake Superior.

    • Not entirely sure what you would need (depends on whether you’re Canadian or not, etc), but check with the Sault Ste. Marie Ministry of Natural Resources Office.
